Accessibility Statement

Last Updated: January 2025

Our Commitment: EraMe is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all people, including those with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

1. Accessibility Standards

EraMe conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content accessible for people with disabilities.

WCAG 2.1 Level AA means our website is accessible to people with disabilities, including:

  • Visual impairments (blindness, low vision, color blindness)
  • Motor/mobility impairments
  • Auditory impairments (deafness, hearing loss)
  • Cognitive and learning disabilities
  • Seizure disorders

2. Accessibility Features

We have implemented the following accessibility features on EraMe:

2.1 Keyboard Navigation

  • All interactive elements are keyboard accessible using Tab, Enter, and Space keys
  • Focus indicators clearly show which element is currently selected
  • Logical tab order follows the visual flow of the page
  • Skip navigation links allow jumping to main content

2.2 Screen Reader Compatibility

  • Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy
  • ARIA labels and landmarks for navigation
  • Alternative text for all meaningful images
  • Form labels properly associated with inputs
  • Error messages announced to assistive technologies

2.3 Visual Design

  • Color contrast ratios meet WCAG AA standards (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
  • Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of functionality
  • Information is not conveyed by color alone
  • Clean, readable fonts with appropriate line spacing
  • Responsive design that works on various screen sizes

2.4 Content Structure

  • Clear and consistent navigation across all pages
  • Descriptive page titles and headings
  • Plain language and clear instructions
  • PDF reports include accessibility tags (when possible)
  • Logical reading order maintained throughout

2.5 Forms and Interactive Elements

  • Clear labels for all form inputs
  • Error messages that clearly explain how to fix issues
  • Sufficient time to complete forms (no time limits on report generation)
  • Buttons and links have descriptive names
  • Focus is managed appropriately (e.g., error focus, modal dialogs)

3. Assistive Technologies Tested

We test EraMe with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen Readers: NVDA (Windows), JAWS (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS/iOS)
  • Browser Zoom: Up to 200% magnification
  • Keyboard-Only Navigation: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge
  • Voice Control: Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Voice Control (macOS)

4. Known Limitations

We acknowledge the following current limitations:

4.1 PDF Reports

  • AI-generated PDF reports may not always have perfect accessibility tagging
  • Complex visual elements in PDFs may not have complete alternative descriptions
  • Workaround: We can provide plain text versions of reports upon request

4.2 Third-Party Content

  • Payment processing (Stripe) is handled by a third-party and may have separate accessibility features
  • We have chosen Stripe for their strong accessibility commitment

4.3 Dynamic Content

  • Some animations and transitions may affect users with motion sensitivity
  • We respect the "prefers-reduced-motion" setting in browsers

5. Ongoing Efforts

We are committed to continuous accessibility improvement:

  • Regular Audits: We conduct accessibility audits every 6 months
  • User Testing: We test with real users who rely on assistive technologies
  • Staff Training: Our team receives accessibility training
  • Code Reviews: Accessibility is part of our development process
  • Updates: We stay current with WCAG guidelines and best practices

6. Feedback and Contact

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of EraMe. If you encounter accessibility barriers, please let us know:

Report an Accessibility Issue

  • Email: accessibility@erame.co
  • Alternate Contact: support@erame.co
  • Subject Line: "Accessibility Issue - [Brief Description]"
  • Response Time: We aim to respond within 2 business days

When reporting an accessibility issue, please include:

  • Description of the problem and where you encountered it (specific page URL)
  • Your operating system and browser (e.g., "Windows 10 with Chrome 120")
  • Assistive technology you were using (e.g., "NVDA screen reader")
  • Any error messages you received
  • Screenshots or screen recordings if possible

7. Alternative Formats

We are committed to providing alternative formats for our content:

  • Plain Text Reports: Available upon request for users who cannot access PDF format
  • Large Print: Reports can be provided in larger font sizes
  • Email Delivery: Reports sent via email for easy access with assistive technology
  • Customer Support: Human assistance available via email for navigation or access issues

To request an alternative format, email accessibility@erame.co or support@erame.co with your order number and preferred format.

8. Mobile Accessibility

Our mobile website and responsive design include:

  • Touch targets at least 44x44 pixels (Apple HIG and WCAG guidelines)
  • Zoom capability up to 200% without horizontal scrolling
  • VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android) compatibility
  • Orientation support (portrait and landscape)
  • Readable text without requiring pinch-to-zoom

9. Legal Framework

EraMe's accessibility efforts align with:

  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA): Title III, which requires accessible digital services
  • Section 508: Federal accessibility standards (where applicable)
  • WCAG 2.1 Level AA: International accessibility standard
  • European Accessibility Act: For EU users

10. Third-Party Accessibility

We carefully select third-party services based on their accessibility features:

  • Stripe (Payments): WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliant, screen reader tested
  • Email Delivery: Plain text email alternatives always provided
  • Hosting: Infrastructure optimized for fast loading times (benefits users with slow connections)

11. Accessible Communication

We provide accessible customer support:

  • Email Support: Compatible with screen readers and other assistive technologies
  • Plain Language: We avoid jargon and use clear, simple language
  • Flexible Formats: We can communicate via your preferred method
  • Reasonable Accommodations: We work with users to meet individual accessibility needs

12. Conformance Status

Current Status: Partially Conformant

"Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA, specifically:

  • Some AI-generated PDF content may lack complete accessibility tagging
  • Some third-party embedded content may not meet all standards
  • Complex data visualizations (if added in future) may need additional descriptions

We are actively working to achieve full conformance and update this statement as improvements are made.

13. Assessment Approach

EraMe's accessibility has been assessed using:

  • Self-Evaluation: Internal testing by development team
  • Automated Testing: Tools like WAVE, axe DevTools, Lighthouse
  • Manual Testing: Keyboard navigation, screen reader testing
  • User Testing: Feedback from users with disabilities

Last Assessed: January 2025

Next Scheduled Assessment: July 2025

14. Updates to This Statement

This accessibility statement will be updated to reflect:

  • Changes to the EraMe website or services
  • New accessibility features implemented
  • Feedback received from users
  • Changes to accessibility standards or regulations

We review and update this statement every 6 months or when significant changes occur.

Accessibility is a Journey: We recognize that accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time achievement.
